About the artwork "I will Plant You" from the Birkhon "Al HaAretz HaTovah" for Independence Day:
This year, after all the tears, worries, and consolations we’ve experienced in this war, I felt there was meaning in blessing the miracles of our country’s independence.
What was not taken for granted nearly 80 years ago challenges us today, as it briefly seems as though it was always this way. The ability to build homes and plant vineyards is part of the miracle. I returned to Jeremiah, who, in a prophecy of comfort, connects the two:
“…I will plant you and not uproot you, for I relent concerning the disaster…”
A moment of a guiding hand planting us, reminding us that this is the right place and time to be and to bless—blessing the miracles, the wars, and the consolations that will follow.
