About the artwork "We Shall Thank You for a Desirable Land" from the Birkhon "Al HaAretz HaTovah" for Independence Day:
As I went over the blessing text for inspiration, the words "We thank You, Lord our God, for a desirable, good, and spacious land" caught my attention. From there, I knew what I wanted to do.
There’s no context more fitting for Independence Day than a connection to the land. The land our forefathers always dreamed of and prayed to reach. From the time of the return to Zion in the days of Ezra and Nehemiah, through all the different waves of immigration until the establishment of the state and up to now.
I decided to paint the immigrants to the land.
From the period of the First Aliyah in the time of Moses and Joshua, through the return to Zion in the Second Temple period, the immigrations during the establishment of the state, Operation Moses, and up to the year 2025, where we are now.
