About the artwork "We were Like Dreamers" from the Birkhon "Al HaAretz HaTovah" for Independence Day:
" When the Lord brought back the captives of Zion, we were like dreamers". A sentence full of magic that has drawn me since childhood, sparking questions about the concept of a dream. Is the dreamer a visionary with goals, or a naive person lost in illusions? It seems to me they are one and the same. The grand aspirations that come to fruition in reality begin at an innocent point that allows one to imagine an ideal picture, free from the constraints of logic. Our ancestors in exile could dream of returning to the homeland, and later fulfill that dream. Today, we can envision the worthy and desired life in the State of Israel, and with God's help, we will merit realizing it as well.
I painted a group of youths allowing themselves to rest peacefully in a field of daisies, gazing at the clouds and dreaming. Each one dreams of their personal life, and together, they dream of their shared life as a people. I hoped to create a pastoral image that itself expresses a dream of tranquility and security in the Land of Israel.
